Arrested at a Raiders Game: What Happens Next?

Jun 16, 2022Blog

With tremendous excitement, Las Vegas welcomed the Raiders in 2020. The Raider Nation are some of the most passionate NFL fans in the country! The Raiders are also notoriously known for being one with the rowdiest fans in the league. The most common crimes at a Raiders game are drug offenses, trespass, and violence.

Officials have vowed to keep people who misbehave in line. The officers of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and security guards will be enforcing the stadium’s rules.

First and foremost, do not get arrested. That’s the first thing you can do to avoid legal trouble at a Las Vegas Raiders game. If you happen to get arrested, here’s what you can expect.

The Jail and Courtroom Rumor

Allegiant Stadium was rumored to have a jail and courtroom, but the Las Vegas Stadium Authority denied these allegations. The stadium will have a processing room for law enforcement officials, and any suspects apprehended will be taken to offsite detention facilities for proper handling.

Arrest and Booking

Allegiant Stadium may have police officers from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, depending on the event. Furthermore, it has its in-house security force of private licensed security guards to take care of Raiders football games and other Allegiant Stadium events.

Rather than simply deferring to the police for any citizen’s arrests, private security personnel is free to perform the act of citizen’s arrest on individuals who clearly violate the law. After arresting an individual, private security personnel would defer to police officers to physically detain and book the suspect.

Ultimately, people arrested at a Raiders game at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas are transferred to the Clark County Detention Center (CCDC), about eight miles north of the stadium. Most people can bail out and remain out of custody until their criminal case is resolved.

What Happens After You Are Booked at the CCDC?

After you are booked at the Clark County Detention Center (CCDC), you are allowed to pay a bailout. For the defenders unable to bail themselves out, they are given a 72-hour hearing, which happens three days after the arrest. The 72-hour hearing, also called the initial appearance, is where defendants are formally arraigned in court. The defendants, through their attorney, can also request the judge to reduce bail or release the defendant with an Order of Recognizance.

Most misdemeanors carry a $1,000 bail, but gross misdemeanors like battery and domestic violence in the first offense carry $3000. For a list of bail amounts for the Las Vegas Justice Court, please see Las Vegas Justice Court bail schedule.

The defendant receives his bail money after the case is resolved, usually several weeks or months after the arrest. Defendants who cannot afford bail can hire bail bond agents. Bail bond agents typically charge 15% of the bail. The court refunds bail money to the bondsman after the case is completed.

Avoid Breaking the Law

The last thing you want is to get arrested during a Las Vegas Raiders game. The consequences can be severe, ranging from a night in jail to being banned from the stadium. Plus, it’ll ruin your day (or night) and possibly cost you a lot of money in bail. So take care not to get on the wrong side of the law during games.
