What Bail Costs

How Much Is a Bail Bond in Las Vegas?

You pay 15% of the bail amount, or $50 on small bonds. Nevada sets that rate, so every licensed agency charges the same. A $10,000 bail costs $1,500. The premium isn't refundable, because it pays for the bond we post.

Types of Bail Bonds

Anyone arrested in Nevada has a right to bail, except on a first-degree murder charge where the proof is strong (NRS 178.484). Here is what each charge means for bail in Las Vegas.

Ways to Post Bail

Surety Bonds

We post the full bail amount through our surety, and you pay 15% of it (NRS 697.300). The co-signer guarantees the defendant goes to every court date. This is the bond 8-Ball posts.

Cash Bail

You pay the whole bail amount to the court yourself (NRS 178.502). The court keeps it until it exonerates the bond, such as when the case is dismissed. On a large bail, that ties up the full amount while the case runs.

Release Without Bail

A judge can release someone without bail, under conditions, if that protects the public and gets them back to court. For some misdemeanors the sheriff or police chief can do the same (NRS 178.4851). Ask us whether it's likely before you pay for a bond.

Bail by Charge

Domestic Violence Bail Bonds

Nevada holds anyone arrested for domestic battery at least 12 hours before bail (NRS 178.484). If no judge sets the amount, bail starts at $3,000 for a first arrest with no injury, and rises to $5,000 or $15,000 with an injury, strangulation or prior convictions. We do the paperwork during the hold so the bond posts as soon as the 12 hours are up.

DUI Bail Bonds

A first or second DUI within 7 years is a misdemeanor. A third is a category B felony with 1 to 6 years in prison (NRS 484C.400), and a DUI that causes death or substantial bodily harm carries 2 to 20 years (NRS 484C.430). The jail can't release anyone for DUI until their breath reads under 0.04, or for 12 hours if drugs are involved (NRS 178.484).

Felony Bail Bonds

Nevada ranks felonies from category A, which can mean life in prison, down to category E, which carries 1 to 4 years but usually ends in probation (NRS 193.130). Felony bail is often set by a judge rather than the jail's schedule. We post felony bonds of any size, with payment plans from 5% down upon approval.

Misdemeanor Bail Bonds

A misdemeanor carries up to 6 months in jail and a $1,000 fine (NRS 193.150). A gross misdemeanor carries up to 364 days and $2,000 (NRS 193.140). Bail for most misdemeanors follows the court's schedule, so we can usually tell you the amount on the first call.

Assault & Battery Bail Bonds

Simple assault or battery is a misdemeanor. With a deadly weapon, assault becomes a category B felony with 1 to 6 years (NRS 200.471). Battery that causes substantial bodily harm or involves strangulation is a category C felony, and battery with a weapon carries 2 to 15 years (NRS 200.481).

Drug Charge Bail Bonds

A first or second possession charge for a schedule I to IV drug is a category E felony, and a third is category D (NRS 453.336). Trafficking starts at 4 grams and reaches a category A felony at 28 grams or more (NRS 453.3385). The higher the charge, the higher the bail.

Weapons Bail Bonds

Carrying a concealed firearm without a permit is a category C felony (NRS 202.350). A felon or anyone else barred from owning a gun who is caught with one faces a category B felony with 1 to 6 years (NRS 202.360). We post bail on both.

Warrant Bail Bonds

Missing court after release is its own crime: a category D felony if the case was a felony, a misdemeanor or gross misdemeanor if it wasn't. The charge doesn't apply if you surrender within 30 days (NRS 199.335). Call us before you turn yourself in and we'll have the bond ready.

Traffic Bail Bonds

Since AB 116 (2021), most minor traffic tickets in Nevada are civil infractions, and courts no longer issue arrest warrants over unpaid traffic fines. Reckless driving, DUI and other criminal traffic charges still lead to arrest and bail. We post those bonds at every Clark County jail.

Protective Order Violation Bail Bonds

Violating a temporary protective order is a misdemeanor. Repeat violations of an extended order become a gross misdemeanor, then a category D felony (NRS 33.100). If the arrest involved a threat, a prior violation or alcohol, the jail must hold the person 12 hours before bail (NRS 178.484).

Stalking & Harassment Bail Bonds

A first stalking offense is a misdemeanor, a second is a gross misdemeanor and a third is a category C felony. Aggravated stalking, which adds a threat of death or serious harm, is a category B felony with 2 to 15 years (NRS 200.575). Release on these charges usually comes with no-contact conditions, and we explain them before you sign.

Sex Crime Bail Bonds

Sexual assault is a category A felony in Nevada (NRS 200.366), so a judge usually sets bail and conditions at a hearing. We get the paperwork done early so the bond is ready the moment the judge sets the amount. Every call stays confidential.

Solicitation Bail Bonds

A first solicitation charge for a customer is a misdemeanor with a fine of at least $400, and a second is a gross misdemeanor (NRS 201.354). We post these bonds confidentially and without judgment.

Don't see the charge? Call (702) 545-0888 and we'll look it up.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are some bail bonds cheaper than others?

No. Nevada law sets the rate at 15% of the bond, or $50, at every licensed agency (NRS 697.300). We offer plans from 5% down, upon approval.

Is the 15% premium refundable?

No. It's earned once the bond is posted, even if charges are later dropped. We explain everything before you sign.

Can anyone get bail in Nevada?

Almost anyone. The only charge without a right to bail is first-degree murder where the proof is strong. Someone on felony probation or parole needs approval from the court or Parole and Probation first (NRS 178.484).

How long is the hold after a domestic battery arrest?

At least 12 hours. Nevada won't release anyone arrested for domestic battery sooner (NRS 178.484). We start the paperwork during the hold.

What happens if they miss a court date?

Missing court is a separate charge, and a felony if the case was a felony (NRS 199.335). Call us right away. Surrendering within 30 days avoids that charge.

What is the co-signer responsible for?

The co-signer promises the defendant will attend every court date.

Do I have to come to the office?

Usually not. Everything can be done by phone, email and e-signature.
